Is it true Gram Parsons would go out in the desert and search for UFO's?

Wow, I have never heard that. I really don't know anything about him, personally. I just have Grievous Angel, Gilded Palace of Sin, and that album he did with The Byrds. I just conducted a few Google searches of my own, and have similarly come up with nothing. Now I need to know!!
