Is it okay to use PvP gear in PvE?

I've never been high then Lvl60 in world of warcraft until just recently. I bought the full PvP gearset for lvl60 and its better then my current gear. I'm a lvl 66 tauren prot pally. It increases my stamina by a good 300. I know when you get higher lvled its inappropriate to use Pvp gear in PvE, but is it okay if I use it now?
